Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
FreeCloudHosting ("FreeCloudHosting", "we", "us" or "our") operates an informational directory of free-tier cloud platforms and the open-source projects you can deploy to them, available at freecloudhost.net (the "Site"). We have designed the Site to work without accounts and with as little personal data as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why we process it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Site only and not to any third-party platform we link to.
1. Who we are
For the purposes of data-protection law, the operator of the Site is the data controller for the limited processing described here. If you have any question about this policy or how your information is handled, you can reach us using the details in the Contact us section below.
2. Information we collect
We keep collection to a minimum. Depending on how you use the Site, this can include:
- Information you give us. When you submit a platform or project, or otherwise contact us, we receive what you choose to provide — typically a name, a URL, and any optional notes or email address you include so we can follow up.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery provider records standard technical log data such as your IP address, browser type and version, referring page and the date and time of each request. This is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and diagnose problems.
- Information stored on your device. We store two items in your browser's local storage — your theme preference and your service-comparison list. These stay on your device and are not transmitted to us. See the Cookie Policy for specifics.
We do not operate user accounts, ask for passwords, or intentionally collect special categories of personal data (such as health, religion or political opinions).
3. How we use information
We use the limited information above to:
- operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and its directory content;
- review, publish, edit or decline platform and project submissions;
- respond to questions, requests and reports you send us;
- measure aggregate, anonymized usage so we can understand what is useful;
- display and measure advertising and referral links that help fund the Site; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR: our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the Site; your consent where it is required (for example, before setting non-essential analytics or advertising cookies); and compliance with a legal obligation where applicable. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
5. Cookies and local storage
The Site itself does not set first-party tracking cookies; it uses two local-storage items to remember your preferences. Third-party analytics or advertising providers, where active, may set their own cookies. A full breakdown is in our Cookie Policy.
6. Analytics
We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand aggregate traffic — for example, which pages are popular and which devices are common. We are interested in trends, not individuals, and we do not attempt to build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.
7. Advertising and affiliate links
The Site may display advertising and may earn a commission when you sign up for a platform through an outbound link. These outbound links can carry a referral parameter so the provider can attribute the visit. Using a referral link never changes the price you pay, and a platform's placement in the directory is not for sale. Advertising and affiliate partners are independent third parties governed by their own privacy policies.
8. Third-party services we rely on
To run the Site we use a small number of service providers that may process technical data on our behalf:
- a hosting and content-delivery provider that serves the Site and produces security and request logs;
- an analytics provider that gives us aggregate usage statistics; and
- advertising or affiliate networks, where ads or referral links are shown.
We also link out to the cloud platforms and code repositories listed in the directory. Once you follow such a link you are subject to that third party's terms and privacy policy, not ours.
9. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers described above so they can perform their functions, where we are legally required to do so, to protect the rights and safety of the Site and its users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or other transfer of the Site (in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy).
10. Data retention
We keep submission details for as long as they are relevant to the directory or until you ask us to remove them. Technical logs are retained for a limited period according to our providers' defaults and then deleted or anonymized. Information stored in your browser remains until you clear it.
11. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, and the Site's static architecture (no database of personal accounts) keeps the amount of data at risk small. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International data transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including outside the EEA or UK. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — to protect your information in line with applicable law.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" of personal information — note that we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below; we may need to verify your request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
14. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because the Site does not track you across other websites, there is little for a "Do Not Track" signal to disable. Where we use non-essential analytics or advertising, we aim to honor recognized opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control to the extent required by law.
15. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for a general, developer-focused audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
16. Links to other sites
The directory is built around links to third-party platforms and repositories. We are not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of those sites; we encourage you to read their policies before providing them any information.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site or the law evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be highlighted on the Site. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
18. Contact us
